CCW Protocol I is not believed practically to prohibit any conventional weapon in existence. The sole provision in the Protocol, which applies only in armed conflict, is as follows:
It is prohibited to use any weapon the primary effect of which is to injure by fragments which in the human body escape detection by X-rays.
